- ―Batman[src]
The Justice League were the prime defense force of Earth. Consisting of the greatest heroes on Earth, they serve as the stalwart protectors of life, dedicated to protecting the world as the first line of defense against terrestrial, extraterrestrial, inter-dimensional and supernatural threats.
Formed by Superman and Wonder Woman, along with the help of Batman, they were dubbed the "Trinity". Following Lex Luthor's attempt to kill Superman and his surveillance on metahumans, Superman and Wonder Woman discussed about assembling the metahumans to form a superhero alliance. They started with Batman, who expressed uninterest, but willing to cooperate if needed.
When approached by the Martian Manhunter, who was previously disguised as the General, they began recruiting various superheroes across America, starting with the Flash from Central City, who suggested another member, Hal Jordan, one of the Green Lanterns of Sector 2814.
The team went into effect when a possible threat of an all-out war between the Amazons and the Atlanteans, orchestrated by Ocean Master and influenced by the god of war Ares. This event led to the Aquaman joining the team. The Justice League was then established and supported by the United States government, and they were financially supported by Bruce Wayne and Queen Industries CEO, Oliver Queen.
Following their reveal to the world, Lex Luthor began to assemble his own team of metahumans to combat them, dubbed the Legion of Doom.
The team was greatly disordered when the immortal terrorist Ra's al-Ghul used Batman to fight against the team using their greatest weaknesses, with Batman's contingency plans he secretly created in the event of any of them turning rogue.
Their greatest battle began when the New God by the name of Darkseid, the most feared being in the multiverse, visited Earth in search of the final piece of the Anti-Life Equation. Following his apparent victory, the team is left to fight a corrupted mind-controlled Superman, who greatly defeated the heroes.
