Jason Peter Todd was a former vigilante and the second Robin that operated in Gotham City. He was discovered by Batman trying to steal tires off the Batmobile. Not long after this he was taken in by Batman. Unlike his predecessor, he is more prone to his emotions and very often use deadly force against his enemies and petty criminals, even at a young age. Batman detests his violent methods and frequently scolds him.
A great incident occurred when he was captured by Joker in one patrol and was severely beaten to death.

Ra's al-Ghul theorizes that the Lazarus Pit is able to bring the dead back to life, in an effort to test this theory, he stole the body of Jason. The procedure is proven to be succesful, however, it was not effective as Jason went temporarily mad and had to be knocked out. Ra's apparently allowed Jason to stay and even further trained him with the assassins after sensing Jason's hatred for the Batman. Ra's exploited this, with the hopes of one day Jason would able to kill Batman.
