The Speed Force is the name given to an extra-dimensional plane of existence that holds insurmountable energy source. Various speedsters possess connection to this plane, granting them metahuman powers, mainly superspeed.
The Speed Force can also be used as means to travel between alternate realities in the Multiverse.
