Suicide Squad is a 2016 superhero film based on the DC Comics team of the same name. It is the 8th film in the DC Extended Universe and the 8th installment of the Golden Age. It was released on July 23, 2016.
A sequel, The Suicide Squad Imperative, was released 2024.
The film introduces Amanda Waller, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Enchantress, Mindboggler, T.O. Morrow, the Royal Flush Gang, Task Force X, and Superboy into the DCEU.
Synopsis[]
Amanda Waller recruits evil, incarcerated, good-for-nothing assholes to infiltrate a scientific experiment organization Project Cadmus.
Plot[]
At the Project Cadmus laboratory underneath Metropolis, Lex Luthor arrives and meets Dr. T.O. Morrow, where they discuss their ongoing joint project, a clone of Superman. An agent of Luthor then contacts Amanda Waller of A.R.G.U.S.. Waller then holds a meeting with officials of the government to approve the Task Force X in order to shutdown the organization, stating that mere soldiers would not be able to face Cadmus' array of experimental security forces.
The film then introduces the main roster of Deadshot (backstory with his daughter), Harley Quinn (backstory of her captured by Batman and Nightwing), Rogues members Captain Boomerang and Mirror Master (backstory seen in The Flash), Black Manta (backstory seen in Aquaman), Enchantress (backstory of first possession) and Mindboggler (backstory of her crime using her psychic powers), all captives of Belle Reve.
The prisoners is then forced out of their containment and was briefed on their mission

Trivia[]
- The scene where Deadshot consoles Ace before her death is an homage to the Justice League Unlimited animated series where the same thing happened but with Batman instead of Deadshot.
- Captain Boomerang and Mirror Master returns from The Flash.
- Black Manta returns from Aquaman.
- Many characters were considered for the roster, including Plastique, Killer Frost, Black Spider, Katana, Copperhead, and King Shark.
- Few storylines were also considered:
- A more Gotham-centric story of a war between Joker and Black Mask.
- Enchantress going rogue.
- Poison Ivy being the main villain and a side plot involving her and Harley.
